CoPilot Live 7 specific

  1. Can I install CoPilot Live to multiple devices?
  2. You are only permitted to install CoPilot on one device (if you read the End User Licensing Agreement). You will need to purchase it a second time if you want it install it onto a 2nd device.

  3. Is CoPilot Live 7 compatible with my device?
  4. CoPilot Live 7 is compatible with Windows Mobile 5 and 6.0 and Symbian S60 3rd Edition devices.

  5. Can I transfer my CoPilot Live 7 license to the Android or iPhone?
  6. No it is not possible to do this. CoPilot 7 is not compatible with the Google Android phones or the iPhone. You can purchase a full license for CoPilot Live v8 via the Android Market or iTunes App Store, there is no way of upgrading your license from CoPilot 7 to CoPilot Live v8 at this time.

  7. What will happen when I upgrade my ROM to Windows Mobile 6.5? Will CoPilot Live 7 still work?
  8. Yes, CoPilot Live v7 is compatible with Windows Mobile 6.5. Please deactivate your CoPilot license first before installing Windows Mobile 6.5 or installing a ROM upgrade. You will then be able to re-install CoPilot.

Activation

  1. How do I activate CoPilot Live 7?


    • If you have installed CoPilot for the first time, you will be asked to enter your Product Key code. Please enter your 25-digit Product key code, and click Next.
    • Click Next, then Next. Please note that you must Activate your license within 4 days, because CoPilot gives an Activation grace period of 4 days for you to activate your license.
    • If you don't have an Internet connection on your device, then please select No Internet below, then click Next. Please then go to http://activate.alk.com on your PC and enter your Product key code, and License Number displayed on your device onto the Activation website, and click Submit to generate an Activation code.
    • Please enter your Activation code, and click Next, then click Next
    • Please choose your language and desired voice, choose your Map Units between Miles or KM
    • Please click Accept and you will be launched into the CoPilot

GPS

  1. How do I configure GPS Receiver?
  2. Please note you will only need to setup GPS for the first time only. CoPilot will remember the GPS settings on exit, so you will only need to configure your GPS on the first use. Before you follow these steps below, please ensure that you switch on Bluetooth on your device (if you are connecting via Bluetooth), and that your GPS Receiver is switched on.

    • Start CoPilot Live 7
    • From the Welcome Screen, tap SETTINGS, then GPS
    • Tap Setup GPS
    • If your device uses an external GPS Receiver, then please select Bluetooth, and then Next while CoPilot will be searching for your GPS Receiver to connect too.
    • If your device uses an internal built-in GPS Receiver, then please select Built-In. If you are unsure, please select OTHER.
    • Once your GPS Receiver is found in the list below, please tap BTGPS, and then click Next, and then Finish once you see 'Bluetooth Setup Complete'
    • You will now be taken back to the following screen. You can select GPS, then GPS Status
    • Please ensure you are in good view of the sky and you should then start to see satellite bars appearing.
  3. How do I create a connection between my Bluetooth GPS receiver and CoPilot Live 7?


    • Turn on your Bluetooth GPS receiver
    • Open CoPilot
    • select Menu > Settings > GPS > Setup GPS
    • Choose "Bluetooth" and select "Next". CoPilot will now begin searching for the GPS
    • When the GPS is displayed in the list, select it and then select "Next" to complete the GPS Setup. If your GPS is not listed, make sure it is turned on and select "Search Again". If it is still not listed, close CoPilot and make sure your Bluetooth is turned on, open CoPilot and try the steps above again.
  4. CoPilot Live does not get a fix, what should I do?
  5. If CoPilot does not get a fix within 5 minutes, the GPS may not be working correctly. Please turn off and then on your device.

Installation

  1. How do I install CoPilot Live 7 to the Nokia N96
  2. Please follow these instructions on how to install to the Nokia N96.

    • If you have installed CoPilot for the first time, you will be asked to enter your Product Key code. Please enter your 25-digit Product key code, and click Next.

  3. When I try to open CoPilot Live on my Mobile Device, I get a "License Record Not Found" message
  4. The license file for CoPilot Live 7 has become corrupt and needs to be recreated.

    • POCKET PC: On the Pocket PC, go to the Start Menu, Programs and then File Explorer
    • At the top left of the File Explorer window, just below were it says "File Explorer", you will see the name of the current folder you are in. This will be in black lettering and to the right of it you will see a small triangle pointing down. Click on the current folder name and select "My Device"
    • Open the "Windows" folder
    • Locate the "cpl7" file and delete it.
    • Once the license file has been deleted, close File Explorer and open CoPilot Live 7. You will be prompted to re-activate. After CoPilot Live 7 is re-activated, you can continue using the program.
  5. How do I load the USA maps onto my device?
  6. If you have purchased the North America Maps upgrade, please view our detailed step by step instructions in order to upgrade your maps.

  7. How do I download maps to my Nokia N95 8GB / N82 8GB?
  8. Instructions on how to backup the CoPilot maps from the supplied SD card and how to transfer to your Nokia N95 can be downloaded here.

Safety Cameras and POI's

  1. Can I download additional points of interest?
  2. You can download any OV2 file format add-on POI from the internet and integrate these into your device by copying the BMP and OV2 files into the \CoPilot\EU\Save folder and launching CoPilot to integrate them.

Transferring to another device

  1. Can I transfer CoPilot to another device?
  2. Yes you can, if you have CoPilot 7 installed you can transfer it to another device. Please ensure you deactivate your version first by going into MENU | SETTINGS | LICENSING | DEACTIVATE and follow on-screen information.

Other Features

  1. Can I get CoPilot audio to play through my Bluetooth Headset?
  2. If your headset fully supports A2DP and the Bluetooth Audio Gateway then we will support this in CoPilot. CoPilot has no control over this and will use whatever the device supports. If the devices and headset supports it, we will support it in CoPilot.

  3. Estimated Time of Arrival's are inaccurate
  4. Estimated Time of Arrival's are based on a number of factors including the road speeds, the roads you are driving and the routing profile you have configured. Estimated Time of Arrival's are an estimate. If you get stuck in traffic or are slow moving we cannot foresee what delays may be ahead of you. Estimated Time of Arrival's are updated from your current position to your destination based on no other delays.

  5. How do I recreate my Storage Card?

CoPilot Central

  1. During the desktop installation of CoPilot, I receive this error "Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Runtime". How do I fix it?
  2. This error is not related to the CoPilot software and is caused by the InstallShield program that installs CoPilot. This error message is a system-specific error and can be caused by a system-specific setting.   3. Central - Error 1305. Error reading from file. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
  4. Error 1305 is due to either a dirty or defective CD/DVD disc. Please try the following:

    • Take the disc out of the CD/DVD drive.
    • Using a soft cloth, wipe the CD/DVD from the center hole to the outer edge
    • Put the CD/DVD back in the CD/DVD drive and try the installation again.
