Installation

  1. CoPilot Laptop 10 does not support 64-bit processors
    2. CoPilot Laptop 10 currently only supports 32-bit processors. To verify if you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit processor, please complete the following:-

    Select Start > Select Run (fig. A) Type "cmd" in text field (fig. B) and select ok. A "Windows Command Prompt" image will appear on your screen. (fig. C) Type in "SET PROCESSOR_A" (fig. D) and hit your Enter Key. If it displays: PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=x86 Then you have a 32 Bit Processor (fig. E) PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=AMD64 or PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=IA64 Then you have a 64 Bit Processor

  2. Error 1603 when trying to install CoPilot
    3. The reason for Error 1603 is because you are running a 64-bit version of Windows. We currently only support XP-32-bit and VISTA-32bit as per our product specification.

  3. How to install the drivers for the BU-353 GPS Receiver
    4. Please follow the steps below to install the drivers for the BU-353 GPS Receiver

    • Close CoPilot
    • Disconnect the GPS
    • Click on the link below that corresponds to your operating System and choose Open/Run Windows 98, XP, 2000 Windows Vista
    • Once the "Press any key continue" message is displayed, press your space bar
    • Restart your computer
    • Once your computer has completely restarted, plug in your GPS and wait 1 minute
    • Now open CoPilot, and use the GPS setup to connect CoPilot to the GPS.
  4. I'm receiving the error "No GPS" with the GPS-CP-101


  5. I'm receiving the error "No GPS" when having a USB GPS Receiver attached
    6. If you are finding that CoPilot is not connecting to your GPS or it displays “NO GPS Signal”, please follow the steps below:

    Windows XP Users:

    1. Open My Computer.

    2. Browse to:

    Windows XP – C:\Program Files\ALK Technologies\Copilot Laptop\APP

    Windows Vista – C:\Users\Public\PublicApps\ ALK Technologies\Copilot Laptop\APP

    3. Find the preferences.cfg file, double click on this file and select to open it with Notepad.

    4. Find [GPS]. Under this category you will see a line that "GPSReceiver" . Make sure this line reads:

    "GPSReceiver"=1

    If the line is not displayed like this, make the necessary changes.

    5. Click on File and select Save.

    Close all open windows and open CoPilot. Please let me know the results. (NOTE: you should not have to go through the setup of the GPS it should automatically be recognized.)
